We will use this ticket to track projects identified by @fgurr and @webmaster that have shown none or little activity for some time.
Google sheet with some notes: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rhQrNxInky7nD1NdYj7Pyn02WQJSj3TKRsPBIGDZVx8/edit#gid=0
If you wish to nominate a project for consideration please use the following template:
- Project Name:
- URL:
- Last commit:
- Last release:
- Reason for nomination:
EMO will review the nominated projects based on the following criteria:
- Last commit date and reason for nomination

I'll get in touch with the PMC to ask for their feedback. Thanks @fgurr!

Termination review has been scheduled for Eclipse Libra: #194 (closed)
- Author Reporter
A little piece of code that checks the status of all projects regularly and sends a notification / creates a bug if a project seems to be dead would be nice as well.

The project is still active. Instead of a termination review we'll do a progress review.

6 months later RMF still looks pretty dead to me. I will try to retire the unused Jenkins instance at least.

@fgurr Thanks for the heads up. I'll start contacting PMCs and PLs to schedule termination reviews for these projects.
- Owner
TeXlipse is under a progress review but seems to be stable, while the Eclipse Formal Modeling Project has pushed back on termination.
- Author Reporter
/cc @fdesbiens can you comment on the status of Eclipse Concierge?
- Guest
@fgurr I never spoke to anyone from the team (although I tried), and the GitHub and mailing list have been quiet for two years or more. I would suggest starting the termination process and seeing if that pushes someone to take action.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback.

FYI, already received some pushback for the TeXlipse project. Some of these inactive projects are just in a mature state, not making any new releases. I think is a good idea to have a termination review "failed" if this is the case, so we have a track record of the state of these projects. Other ideas or suggestions are also welcome.
Eclipse Formal Modeling Project Termination: #376 (closed)
Dear Maria Teresa Delgado @mdelgado624
We have received about the potential termination of EFM. It is true that there has not been commit for a while. This is due:
- the modeling tools (on efm: efm-hibou / efm-symbex+efm-modeling) are stable
- some evolution of tools are being developed but there are conducted internally at CEA, and they will be released when they are stabilized
We hope that it is possible to keep this project open. If you need more information about what are the new features, we can provide you with publications that describe them (concerning efm-hibou / efm-symbex+efm-modeling ).
Regards,
Boutheina, Christophe, Arnault

I've reached out to all 21 projects and PMCs to request for additional information before starting to schedule termination reviews for these. I've created a spreadsheet to keep track of these projects.
I've set up the due date of this issue to September 6th. Considering the summer break, I'll give te project teams and PMCs some time to get back to us before moving this forward.

@mdelgado624 take Eclipse EMF Teneo off the list, please (cc @emerks)

- Eclipse EMF Teneo
- Eclipse Paho Incubator
- Eclipse PTP

Eclipse PTP Project terminated and archived.
Collapse replies This related project seems also just as old:
https://git.eclipse.org/r/q/bpmn2%2Forg.eclipse.bpmn2
How is the candidate determined?
FYI, both contribute (stale) content to the release train. Last time I was going to remove the content there was some scrambling to refresh the content; I had to provide some help getting builds working...
Generally if either webmaster or the RelEng team are trying to get a projects 'attention'(eg: hey your CI instance isn't doing anything, what gives?) and we get nothing but radio silence after a few attempts to reach out we nominate them here.
While I don't know about opening nominations to everyone in the community, I think there is a solid case for allowing committer reps or PMC leads, or simrel maintainers to nominate projects.
@mdelgado624 would you please consider Eds request and add modeling.mdt.bpmn2 to the list?
- Owner
Actually, anyone from the community can "nominate" potential candidates for terminations. EMO will investigate if a project is inactive and not engaging with its community following our open source best practices, and determine if a termination (or a progress) review is needed.
Thanks @emerks for pointing this out. I've added this project to the list of termination candidates:
