Integrate vectorgraphics2d in Eclipse/SWTChart
Hi folks,
we would like to integrate/move the vectorgraphics2d project as a bundle into Eclipse/SWTChart: VectorGraphics2D
The library allows to create SVG, PDF and EPS files easily by utilizing Graphics2D draw operations. It would be an enrichment for Eclipse/SWTChart as it makes it possible to dynamically create high-resolution export files of the existing Line-, Scatter-, Bar- and Pie-Charts. Have a look at the attached example:
The source code shall be bundled as follows, so that it can be also used as a standalone version:
org.eclipse.swtchart.vectorgraphics2d
The library has been mainly developed by Erich Seifert and his brother Michael Seifert. It is currently dual-licensed under the LGPL/GPL. Both would be happy to migrate the project to the Eclipse Foundation under SWTChart. Additionally, both are fine with a license change to the EPLv2.
I'm available to mentor this project and to migrate and integrate the source code into SWTChart. I assume we have to:
- Ask all committers of the vectorgraphics2d library for permission
- Modify the header to EPLv2
- Rename the bundles to:
org.eclipse.swtchart.vectorgraphics2d
- Wait for permission of EMO
- Integrate the code into SWTChart
Herewith, I'd like to ask for a preliminary check if the above request could be executed in a legal way. Additionally, I would be happy to get some guidelines/checkpoints how to proceed.
Best, Philip
