The EMO is using this issue to track the progress of project creation. Help regarding the process can be found in the Eclipse Foundation Project Handbook.
The Eclipse Foundation values its Intellectual Property and respects the rights of other Intellectual Property holders. For this reason, a trademark search is performed prior to accepting any new project name. This safeguard is in place to protect all parties.
Unfortunately, our search results indicate a high risk of trademark infringement associated with using the proposed project name. As a result, we ask that you provide up to three new project names, in order of preference, and we will initiate a new search.
Thank you, Sharon. One question: we saw that the parent project is now Eclipse IoT:
https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/iot
Could we add our paceval company logo also to the page then, please?
That collection of logos is automatically generated. It's described in the handbook. The collection of logos on the IoT Top Level Project page that you've cited is generated based on the activity of the subprojects.
So...
To be listed on this page, your company needs to be a member of the Eclipse Foundation, and at least one contributor or committer who works for your company needs have a commit merged into a project repository in the past three months.
Thank you, Wayne, for the answer. We from paceval. would like to start as an Associate member for now (< €1 million < 10 employees). Could you set this up for us, please?
Hi Maria,
Jonathan Koenning, jonathan.koenning@gmail.com has now an Eclipse Account (Thank you, for the reminder!).
Yes, the project resources are correct.
Kind regards, Joerg
@webmaster I haven't been able to actually create the project, since there is still one committer that hasn't created an EF account. I'll let you know when the issue is solved and the project is created.
@joergk AFAICT none of the people involved in the project have still completed the committer paperwork. have you received the paperwork? is there something blocking you from completing it? please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need assistance or help to complete this process.
Please notice that the provisioning process is on hold until at least one committer has completed their paperwork, thus no project resources will be created until then.
The project provisioning process is complete! Here you will find all of the information regarding resources allocated to your project:
Source Code Management:
As your project's main Git repository is hosted at GitHub, we will need to move it to the Eclipse organization. This work can begin as soon as you have check in permission from EMO legal.
Issue Tracker:
Github issues will remain enabled for your project.
Builds: You can upload releases to diafanis via SFTP or SCP from a CI instance at Eclipse.org
Older builds should be moved to the archives area when they are no longer required. You can do this by visting http://download.eclipse.org/diafanis in your favorite web browser and using the web ui.
@joergk the project has now been provisioned! next step will be to submit your Initial Contribution.
There is help available in the Eclipse Handbook. Please reach out to us if you have any questions!
Hi Maria Teresa and Gunnar, I cannot reach
Project repository: https://github.com/eclipse/diafanis
I always end up at 404:notfound
Can you help, please?
Kind regards, Joerg
@joergk AFAICT since your project's main Git repository is hosted at GitHub, we will need to move it to the Eclipse organization. This work will begin as soon as you have check in permission from EMO legal. What is the status of the project's initial contribution?
@webmaster can you provide any insights on the status of this migration?
The usual workflow once the project has IP clearance is they invite 'eclipsewebmaster' to be an admin on their existing repo, and then we move the repo into an Eclipse organization, update the PMI(so that committer permisisons are managed correctly). After updating their remotes the project gets back to development.
We don't pre-create repos as part of this process, but if the goal is to start fresh with a snapshot of the IP approved code in a new repo, we can certainly make that happen.
I think we can do that(but my understanding of the IP process is admittedly out of date). @mdelgado624 can you confirm that we can add this code to the repo while it's undergoing review?
@joergk if we can do this, would you rather we create a blank repo and you can just upload this code directly?
@mdelgado624 and @gunnar , I have now craeted the CQ for the initial code: "CQ Created: Your contribution questionnaire CQ24103 has been successfully received."
"if we can do this, would you rather we create a blank repo and you can just upload this code directly?"
Yes, you can, of course, create a blank repro. Thank you, Matt!
I've created the repository. Committers that have added their Github IDs to their Eclipse.org accounts will receive access in an hour or so when the sync tooling runs.
@mdelgado624 and @gunnar , we have not received feedback about the initial code yet: "CQ Created: Your contribution questionnaire CQ24103 has been successfully received."
Is there something missing from our side?
@mdelgado624 and @gunnar , I have now added the Initial Source-Code for Eclipse Diafanis to the CQ 24103.
I have no idea why it was not working before.
Kind regards, Joerg
It looks like the system has not notified the PMC that their approval is required. I'll approve it on behalf of the PMC and get it into IP Team's work queue. My apologies for the unacceptable delay.
Hi Shawn, thanks for your question.
This .so library is a temporary solution until the coprocessor is available in
hardware (in Q1/2023).
We will release the hardware driver as open source as soon as the first
prototype is available.
However, contributors can already develop and test against the .so library,
which simulates the coprocessor hardware.
I hope this explaination helps. Or should we rename it to something like "temp_sw_coproz.so"
to mark this .so library as a temporary solution?
Kind regards, Joerg
Hi @joergk I'll get in touch with @skilpatrick to understand what is blocking this CQ.
I know you've been waiting for some time, but your patience is still very much appreciated since we're in the middle of the summer break and some of us are taking some time off.
@joergk the IP team has granted approval for you to check the content into your project’s source code repository. Please see the CQ for more information.
