Modernize CMake build files: download deps, add configuration options, add testing, and generate docs

Dear all,

The CMake build is currently missing certain "customary" configuration options, does not build testing, deps, or docs. Additionally, the units library can be configured to offer only the units, that are actually used by the project. Additional compiler warnings could be enabled as well which should lead to a cleaner code base.
