To make use of some features introduced in the clang 12 based toolchain,
such as support for DWARF-5 format debug info, support in binutils
(in particular as and ld) is needed.

Bring binutils up to 2.36.1 (in sync with patches in poky master) to have
a binutils version matching what some newer toolchain features need.

The recipe is in sync with the recipe in poky revision

Similarly to cmake, GN generates Ninja files for the final compilation.

When not defined, bitbake will not expand the variables and wic will be
passed unrecognized arguments. Here is an example:

At filesystem creation, mke2fs uses the filesystem size to calculate the
inodes size. Some of our partitions are empty and they will end up small
inode size. The tool will even throw a clear warning:

The ext4 filesystem labeled 'x-dev-data' has no Y2038 support. Inodes
(of size 128) are too small.

As the warning reads, this value is affacted by the Y2038 problem. By
using `--mkfs-extraopts "-T default"` we make sure that mke2fs doesn't
autodetect inode size but instead it uses default values for tuning
parameters - inode size is included.

Switch defaults to use clang, compiler-rt and libc++ -- let's test our
toolchain extensively before the release.
To go back to previous defaults, simply override the settings by putting
TOOLCHAIN = "gcc"
etc. into local.conf

The patch is now merged upstream and we can bump our SRCREV to include
it. It is the only commit coming in from the SRCREV bump so it is
basically identical to what be had before. Besides the reduced technical

The build system outputs block allocation meta-data that, when used with
bmaptool, speeds up writing the disk considerably.

Also, the serial section is now obsolete as it is enabled with
debug-tweaks distro feature.

The OS will start to depend on a specific partition table and having to
maintain multiple qemu setups might not prove useful. Also, we have
encountered issues trying to boot wic images (disk images as opposed to
root filesystems) with qemu ARM machines.
