Simplify re-using existing repository data and configuration on upgrade
We upgrade often, and every time you have to download a new 218M repository that already exists at the file system.
In addition, you have to recover some old data and fix the setup:
- I use
ssh
andgit
transfer rather thanhttps
for push and pull. - I use
project
as upstream name (origin
is too ambiguous to me). - There is also all the work in progress that you have to transfer from the old repository. Either by pulling from the old repository or by copying files at the file system.
Obviously, you can avoid much of this work by deleting the new repository and moving the old one, but that is also a stupid solution. It means you use the 218M download for just a handful of files and then delete 90% of it without ever using it.
So it would be great if the setup gives some more options, or even split repository download/setup from install/upgrade Eclipse versions.
