Eclipse Foundation Hosted Services Privacy and Acceptable Usage Policy

The Eclipse Foundation Privacy Policy outlines our commitment to meeting privacy obligations. The Eclipse Foundation Hosted Services Privacy and Acceptable Usage Policy sets out the rules and responsibilities for Service Operators—individuals other than Eclipse Foundation staff managing services hosted or supported by the Eclipse Foundation—to ensure compliance with the Eclipse Foundation Website Privacy Policy and global privacy standards.

Intent

The Eclipse Foundation offers services management to its Projects and Industry Collaborations as a benefit to our community. When managed by Service Operators, we want to ensure these services meet our standards for privacy and transparency. Any collected data must comply with data privacy regulations and support the activities of our Projects and/or Industry Collaborations. This policy provides guidelines to Service Operators on how to meet these standards.

A service refers to any system or service hosted, funded, or supported by the Eclipse Foundation, including domains, subdomains, servers, Project and Industry Collaboration websites, sandboxes, website analytics, and third-party tools (e.g., Survey Monkey, Google Analytics, Netlify).

By participating in the operation of a service, you become a Service Operator and agree to adhere to the Eclipse Foundation Hosted Services Privacy and Acceptable Usage Policy.

Process

Create an issue describing your hosted service and how you plan to process user data.
1. If you are already processing data, create an issue describing your hosted service and how you are currently processing user data, so we are informed of your activities.
Wait for approval (+1) from the Eclipse Foundation before processing personal data.
Keep your issue open as long as you are processing personal data.
Close your issue once your hosted services are disabled or when you stop processing personal data.
