Draft: build: read the project version from Git

Read the sem ver from the latest Git tag. If not on a tag, the number of additional commits since the last tag and an abbreviated object name for the current commit will be added.

NOTE: There has to be a valid sem ver tag in the history of the current commit for this to work.

The program was tested solely for our own use cases, which might differ from yours.
