Linux GTK platform support
At the moment there is no one in the community focusing on reviewing Linux platform support. What is needed is someone to review incoming issues, PRs and keep on top of win32 test failures (turning them into issues).
- The native side, and the connection between the Java and native side are the biggest focus
- The open Linux GTK issues for SWT are listed in https://github.com/eclipse-platform/eclipse.platform.swt/labels/Linux%2FGTK
- GTK4 for SWT needs to be completed
- Test results that need regular review are listed in the "Logs and Test Links" section of individual builds on https://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/
Time estimates:
- Full time job to maintain GTK 4 port
- Adapting Tree and Table to GTK4 is probably 4-5 months work for a knowledgeable engineer
Impact:
- There is a risk that Webkit for GTK3 will be end of life much sooner than the rest of GTK3 which means a GTK4 version of Webkit is high priority
