Summary

We would benefit greatly from better contribution analytics — both for general project analysis and for data-based committer / CODEOWNER voting.

The existing data on projects.eclipse.org is very limited.

By contrast, ossinsight.io offers a much richer view. What makes it especially useful for me is the ability to combine multiple repositories (e.g. all S-CORE infrastructure repos) and store them as a single link. It also counts more than just commits, which makes the data far more meaningful.

However, ossinsight.io is also limited — for example, it only shows the most recent month and only the top 5 contributors.

As a bonus, they also provide embeddable widgets, which could make contribution data more accessible in our documentation and dashboards.

Please consider providing an Eclipse-endorsed or Eclipse-hosted contribution analytics service that:

• goes beyond commit counts,
• provides data per repository
• supports grouping multiple repositories,
• allows longer timeframes, and
• offers easy sharing or embedding options.
