New Splash Screen for Eclipse IDE releases in 2025

Hello,

We need to design a fresh and captivating splash screen for the Eclipse 4.35+ releases. Below are the requirements to help guide the design process:

Requirement 1: Splash Screen

• Size: 452x302
• Format: XCF (GIMP format) with separate text layers for month/year and release name, allowing easy updates.
  • Alternatively, multiple BMP format splash screens can be created for the following releases:
    • 2025-06
    • 2025-09
    • 2025-12
    • 2026-03

Requirement 2: Branding Image for About Dialog

• Current Image Reference: Branding Image
• Size: 116x302
• Format: PNG

For inspiration, you can refer to #3963 (closed) for previous splash screen designs.

We’d appreciate having the new splash screens ready by January or early February 2025, so the voting process can occur as scheduled in March.

There are options #3963 (comment 1567650) I think rather than investing time and energy into developing new ones, we can make better use of the great designs we already have.

Yes, this is my suggestion, in #3963 (comment 1567650) Options 1,2,3 are from 2023 and remaining options 4,5,6,7 are from @roncla from which we used option 4.

I have prepared this layout based on last years designs. Since th above mentioned format (116x302) did not show the date label I have added it here. Happy with this?

Hi @rahulmoh I am also attaching the option from 2023, so you have more choices to consider.

My I raise my concern with option 1 here: for years now we try to get the Brand Eclipse IDE out and use it as much as possible. Having now a splash without IDE seems for me problematic.

I agree. @rahulmoh I think you didn't use the right variation of the splash screen for proposal 1. On #3963 (comment 1567650) , we can see one saying "eclipse IDE"

Yes, Option 1 seems like a winner.

@rahulmoh and @mekhan, in the current zip file we don't have the 2025 03 but the 2026 03, is it "on purpose"?

@natalialoungou, do we usually use the new splash screen from march (03) version? If yes, would be great to use this one for the next release

We use a splash screen for four releases starting with the June release. So the upcoming release 2025-03 will have the same splash screen as the last three releases (starting from 2024-06).
