Analytics for Eclipse Thingweb Playground
Summary
Eclipse Thingweb - Playground has a new web interface. We want to understand which features are really being used so that we can better plan our effort. This is not just Google/Matomo but also interaction analytics (which feature is clicked on the most). We have found tools like Hotjar (see https://www.hotjar.com/product/heatmaps/) that satisfy our needs but we do not want to integrate it before being sure about the legal implications. Some questions:
- Is it ok to integrate a commercial tool in the first place?
- Is this kind of a tool and data collection allowed?
- Are there alternatives provided by Eclipse Foundation? I see many issues about google analytics but that is not the information we are looking for. That would be also nice to have.
- As seen in our primary analysis, we will need to sign a Data Processing Agreement with Hotjar. Who should sign such a document?
Note: the other parts of the template have been removed since this is a question rather than a bug or request to change something for a Thingweb project.
