gt-gen-simulator vs opSimulator

Hi, I was poking around the repo and I was trying to understand how gt-gen-simulator compares to opSimulator. Is gt-gen-simulator meant to be a replacement to the older opSimulator? As a new-comer, which one would you recommend to start with?
