[Bug 511039] All Releases download page needs a key/legend
| | | | --- | --- | | Bugzilla Link | [511039](https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=511039) | | Status | NEW | | Importance | P3 normal | | Reported | Jan 25, 2017 10:35 EDT | | Modified | Jan 05, 2021 10:09 EDT | | Reporter | Eric Rizzo | ## Description The "All Releases" download page (https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/all ) uses abbreviations and vernacular that assumes the visitor knows a lot about how Eclipse names builds and releases. This is confusing to new users and those who are not familiar with the conventions. See https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&th=1083796 The page could be enhanced by using a simple key/legend that explains the release train names and their ordering on the page (latest to earliest) as well as the R, RC, M, etc build labels. I think there are wiki pages that can be referenced or content duplicated from, although I didn't find them with a quick (2 minutes worth) search. Something like this, placed on the right side: * Note: Releases are listed in order of most recent first.\ * Eclipse release code names (Oxygen, Mars, etc) are described here ["here" being a link to the appropriate wiki page]\ * R = Release (aka, GA)\ * RC = Release Candidate\ * M = Milestone\ etc...
