Help us celebrate 25 years of Eclipse IDE, SDK and Platform 馃帀
In November 2026, we will celebrate the **25th anniversary of the Eclipse IDE, SDK and Platform**. We are preparing a community campaign to celebrate the technologies, projects, people and organisations that have shaped the Eclipse ecosystem over the past 25 years. Our goal is to collect and showcase **at least 25 community stories**, increase awareness of the wider ecosystem behind Eclipse IDE, SDK and Platform, and help tell the story of the community that has built and sustained it. **We need your help to capture that history.** ## What are we looking for? We are particularly interested in contributions such as: * **Your Eclipse story:** When did you start using or contributing to Eclipse? What role has it played in your career, project or organisation? * **Video testimonials:** Short videos sharing your Eclipse experience, memories or perspective are very welcome. * **Memorable moments:** A release, conference, feature, project, migration, community moment or anecdote that you still remember. * **Products built with Eclipse:** Commercial or open source products, developer tools, engineering environments or internal platforms built using Eclipse Platform, RCP, SDK or related technologies. * **Technical milestones:** Features, projects or architectural decisions that you think had an important impact on Eclipse or its ecosystem. * **Historical material:** Old screenshots, photos, presentations, release announcements, documentation, websites or other material worth preserving. * **People and organisations:** Contributors, maintainers, companies or community members whose role in the Eclipse story deserves to be highlighted. * **Then and now:** Examples showing how an Eclipse technology, project or product has evolved over the years. * **Looking forward:** What should Eclipse IDE, Platform and SDK become over the next 25 years? ## How to contribute Please **add your contributions directly as comments on this issue**, so we can collect the community's stories and ideas in one place. Your contribution does not need to be polished or long. A few sentences, a short video testimonial, screenshot, photo, link, product name, milestone or simply a pointer to a person or story we should investigate are all welcome. For example: > I started using Eclipse in \[year/version\] for \[...\]. What I remember most is \[...\]. Today, we still use Eclipse technology for \[...\]. If you know someone with a good Eclipse story, please mention them or encourage them to comment here as well. :date: **Please share your contributions by October 16th 2026**, so that we have time to review and incorporate them into the anniversary campaign planned for November. The Eclipse IDE is an iconic part of this history, but we also want to highlight the much broader ecosystem around the **Eclipse Platform, SDK, RCP and the many products and tools built on these technologies**. Thank you for helping us document and celebrate 25 years of Eclipse, and the community that made it possible.
