Moving forward, the KUKSA team decided to add new KUKSA components under the Apache 2.0 license, and relicensing existing KUKSA sourcecode where applicable. This decision was taken to ease adoption of KUKSA components in the automotive industry, where the Apache-2.0 license is more widespread currently.

Just like the Eclipse Public License version 2.0, the Apache-2.0 license is an OSI Approved license, that ensures contributions will remain Open Source under terms of the Apache-2.0 license, for the adoption and extension by other community members.

License change

In order to implement the required license change, we need to complete the following:

• EMO (ED) approval
• IP rights transfer agreement from past contributors
• PMC notified
• Inform the community using the project communication channels
• EF database license update (EMO responsibility)
• EF PMI license update (EMO responsibility)
• Copyright headers updated
• License files updated
