Description
Hi,
the IoT PMC receives many, many, many CQs in which the "Source URL" field contains a URL to a source code archive (i.e. a ZIP or JAR) instead of a URL pointing to the place where the source code is maintained, i.e. a link to a source code management tool like a repository in GitHub or an SVN repository.
This makes it hard to do quick checks like
- What is the license declared in the files vs. the license declared in the CQ? \
- Does the content of the attached source archive look similar to the files in the repository location?\
- etc
I think it would be helpful to add some more description to the "Source URL" field in the form where the CQ is being created. What about
"A link to the tag/version of the repository where the source code is being maintained, e.g. a link to a GitHub repository tag like https://github.com/eclipse/hono/tree/1.2.0"
I believe (hope) that this would reduce the number of CQs that contain erroneous source URLs ...
WDYT?
Kai
