Description
When I define a project to use RSE and configure a connection to my server in the cloud I can open that project and use it. But very often Eclipse hangs when accessing things. For example, when I Open Project I get an indication that it's Refreshing the project. It'll sit at 0% for quite some time. Meantime, under Eclipse running on Ubuntu, the screen darkens indicating that the process is not responding. After several seconds to minutes, the screen will come back to life and I see Refreshing go to say 9%. At this point I click in the Project Explorer to expand a folder. Once again everything hangs and the screen goes dark. After several seconds it comes back to life and the folder is expanded. Refreshing may go to something like 15%.
Eventually the project is refreshed and Eclipse is fairly responsive. Other times an edit of a file (merely typing say a space) or a file save will again hang the whole IDE for a few seconds.
This remote project was not that big, about 700 files.
When working for a previous client from home I would log into the client's systems using a remote connection. All I could do is connect using the client's issued Windows laptop. But my work involves editing files on Linux servers. The client was very strict and I could not say run Eclipse on the Linux server and display back to my Windows PC. In any event I was using Eclipse on the Windows PC and using TM:RSE to edit the files on the Linux server. This was even more painfully slow and would hang so much making using Eclipse with TM:RSE to get work done pretty much impossible.
What is causing this hanging and how to fix? I've used RSE many times in the past and never recall the screen going dark at all ever.
