Description
The New Connection wizard's first step is "Select Remote System Type". At this step I get 7 choices:
- FTP Only
- Linux
- Local
- SSH Only
- Telnet Only (experimental)
- Unix
- Windows
Even though I have been using RSE for 3 years, I made the wrong choice, instead of choosing "SSH Only". Since I chose Linux instead, I then failed to establish a connection.
The problem is not only the option labels (and descriptions) and the fact that the remote system uses Linux, but the question's phrasing. In my case, "Linux" does correspond to the system type of the target. If there were only exclusive options (for example, Windows and Unix), "System Type" would be an appropriate label. But as several options exist for a single system, this setting must be renamed, perhaps to something vaguer, like "Connection Type".
Obviously, option descriptions (and probably names) also need to be enhanced to convey that Linux (for example) will not work with any target running Linux, but I consider that as a different issue.
