Extend environmental conditions support in openPASS

The configuration of the environmental condition through OpenSCENARIO-file allows the user to define weather und road conditions. The following aspects should be taken into consideration for the extension of the environmental conditions support in openPASS:

  • Weather Conditions: the intensity of the precipitation types “rain” and “snow” can be described through 3 different levels e.g., “low”, “medium” and “high”. Additionally, the definition of fog in the simulation should be implemented. The currently relevant use-case for “fog” represents an overall foggy condition, which is not limited by a bounding-box.
  • Road Conditions: the road friction is currently configured in the simulationConfig. This parameter should be defined in the OSC-file under the “RoadConditions” tag.
  • A simple model, which reflects the effect of the environmental conditions on the friction and on the visibility distance should be implemented.
