Instructions for preparing for next release: remove no longer needed steps

We have several steps that indicate they should be automatic, but to manually check the result. They have worked for several years now, without issues. Besides that, there is a catch-all item at the end of the list, to search in the entire repo for the old version, which would also catch them. I think we should remove the no longer needed items, to reduce the number of unnecessary instructions.
