Community Mentor Consultant
The Eclipse IDE Working Group would like to fund someone to be dedicated to mentoring newcomers to the Eclipse IDE development community. The types of tasks this would encompass may include:
- Triage incoming Pull Requests
- Welcome new users
- Help users get process items resolved (like ECA, version bumps, matching documentation, API, etc)
- Direct PRs to suitable developers for code review
- Responding to emails on dev lists that require attention or direction to more suitable location
- Similar interactions on other platforms such as chat platform, Stack Overflow or other area that contributors to the Eclipse ecosystem live
- Writing/updating contributor documentation
- Maintaining Oomph Setups
- Identify possible GSOC, GSOD, and other mentorship projects
- Organizing Hackathons
The above list is not meant to be exhaustive, but rather to be used as inspiration for what type of work can be done. Ideally the person to take this work on has some inspiration of how to engage with the contributor community.
