Create a “Get Involved” Contributor Page
We should create a dedicated “Get Involved” page for the Eclipse community, similar in purpose and structure to the one used by LibreOffice: https://www.libreoffice.org/community/get-involved/?pk_campaign=hub.
I discovered this page through a cancelable banner directly within the LibreOffice application. It appears only once and does not reappear once dismissed.
This "new" page would aim to humanize the contribution journey by showcasing the people actively involved in welcoming and guiding newcomers—such as mentors, community managers, or active contributors. It could include photos, short bios, and links to contact or connect (e.g., chat channels, forums, mailing lists).
The objective is to make onboarding easier, highlight contribution pathways, and encourage greater participation across diverse profiles. It should help make the Eclipse community feel more approachable, reduce the intimidation barrier for newcomers, and shine a light on the human network behind the code.
On the other hand, if we google "Eclipse Get involved" we find the following on the first page:
- https://wiki.eclipse.org/Getting_Involved_with_the_Community -> out of date as it has moved elsewhere
- https://www.eclipse.org/contribute/ : A very general contribution page
- https://eclipse.dev/omr/starter/project.html : get involved on OMR project (out of scope).
